Isaac Hayes is your daddy…
…figuratively.
If you were born in the 70s, there’s a good chance the Black Moses shepherded your creation with his music. His whole discography (pre-disco) is one continuous epic Fuck Song.
DOWNLOAD: Isaac Hayes – “(They Long To Be) Close To You”
From the album Black Moses.
This cover of the song made famous by The Carpenters fits more for the post-coitus-cuddling-cupcaking stage, but it’s one of my favorite Isaac Hayes joints.
O-Dub over at Soul Sides has transformed the banner and headline of his blog to honor Isaac’s passing. Please read his comprehensive tribute posts here and here.
P.S. – For those of y’all in the Bay, I’ll be spinning an Isaac Hayes tribute set at Devil’s Pie this Thursday @ Namu Bar in San Francisco.
