Fuck Song Of The Day: Isley Brothers – “Footsteps In The Dark” (King Britt Scuba Mix)

You hip hop heads probably know KING BRITT mainly as the DJ for the DIGABLE PLANETS; however, for soul and house music lovers around the world, the Philly native is, quite literally, the king of the remix.

This is a reject track from a Sony ISLEY BROTHERS remix project from a few years back. For the record, let me just say: Sony fucked up. Britt’s sensuously sparse take on this classic Fuck Song is near perfection to my ears. Um, well, actually, I COULD do without the overly dramatic woman speaking Spanish in between Ron’s crooning, which, in any other case, would usually make me put a CORNY label on such songs, but I’m willing to ignore that in this case.

Check out King Britt’s Myspace to hear his remixes of Santigold and Radiohead.

I know nothing gets you more in the mood than fantasizing about Thom Yorke’s beautifully contorted O-Face staring down at you.

Psyche.

But…something about dude’s voice…[cue Kiwi shouting "PAUSE!"]

From In Rainbows (TBD Records, 2008)

Although In Rainbows was physically released in 2008, (Jan 1st, to be exact), it was made available in October of 2007 to the public for digital download by Radiohead themselves in a move that no major band or musician has ever done before: they let the fans decide for themselves how much they wanted to pay for the album. By the time they shut down the download site in December of 2007, they had made more money from the download than the total amount made from their last album, Hail To The Thief, shutting up the skeptics and haters. And to top things off, the physical release of the album in 2008 still shot to #1 in the UK. What?!

So here’s to you, Radiohead, for creating THE Fuck Song of 2008 and, in the process, revolutionizing the record industry.
